MEMBERSHIP

2024 Dues are available to be paid.

REMEMBER- The dues increase takes effect with the 2024 dues payments.

Take care of your 2024 membership in three easy ways:
by phone, online, or mail.
Go to www.ALAforVeterans.org,
calling National HQ (317) 569-4570,
or mail it directly to your Unit.

2024 Department of NY goal is 37,415.

Click here for the finalized 2024 Unit goals for the Department of New York.

Effective with the 2024 dues- Transmittals cannot be larger than 50-55 senior members. We can only process 55 senior dues for 2024 dues year at a time. This is due to the increase in dues. The Department cannot exceed $1,000 in a single transaction. If there are 55 seniors it’s a total of $990.00 (55 x $18).

2024 dues are available to be paid- renewals can be sent in around Mid-July. ALL new members and rejoins for 2024 must be held until September 1, 2023. If sent in before that date, they will be processed for 2023, and automatically owe 2024.

If a junior is born in 2006, they will be a junior member for the 2024 dues year. On their 18th birthday, they will automatically become a senior member.

Anyone who was born in 2005 and will be 18 years old by 11:59pm on December 31,2023; is a senior for the 2024 year. National has already updated those members to senior status before the April printing of the 2024 membership cards and rosters. It should say “MAM” instead of “MYM” under Member type.

There are changes to the 2023-2024 Transmittal. We have removed the PUFL (Paid up for life) column. Too many membership chairman confuse a “HLM” (honorary life member) and their “PUFL” members. HLM’s are voted on and paid by the Unit. PUFL member are paid automatically by National HQ right after the conclusion of National Convention. With that, there is no need to write down PUFL members on your transmittals. They will be included in your count towards your goal as soon as National pays them on ALAMIS.

ONLY use the transmittals with the 2023-2024 at the top. This will reduce the confusion with the 2024 dues increase.

MEMBERSHIP——————————————————————————————————

This Committee is the “grassroots” of our organization. Without a solid membership; we cannot carry out the many programs that comprise the American Legion Auxiliary. We need to encourage those eligible to join our organization. Membership drives using Post rosters can be held. We need to retain those on our rolls and actively seek out new members to remain the largest women’s patriotic organization in the world.

Key Program Statements:

  • The role of the national Membership Committee is to encourage and support the nationwide effort to attract and retain a diverse, active membership and establish new units to ensure the future of the American Legion Auxiliary.
  • By honoring our veterans and military through meaningful service, the American Legion Auxiliary will grow our membership. We must let members know that they are the Auxiliary’s most valuable asset.
  • There are several things members can do to promote membership for the American Legion Auxiliary including enhancing the member experience, reaching out to former and expired members, attracting new members and understanding and respecting member rights.
  • Consult our Key Resources for this year’s membership awards.

Start today:
1) Go to the My Auxiliary member portal at https://member.legion-aux.org/member/resources/flyer-templates.
2) Download the PDF.
3) Click onto the fillable field at the bottom of the flyer to type in a unit contact person’s name, phone, or email address.
4) Print on color paper (we suggest blue), and cut in thirds.
5) Take a flyer to each takeout box.

Units are encouraged to supplement the national renewal notices with unit generated renewal notices and personal phone calls.
