As we begin our 91st
year of service, let us follow the National President’s Theme: "The Power of
One": One Member, one Unit, one Department and one Auxiliary. Also our
Department President Nancy’s Theme: "United We Stand, in ‘Service not Self’"
for God and Country.
The purpose of the
Department of New York Historians is to accurately record the
accomplishments and significant events that occur in their Department,
County, Unit and Junior organization. Keeping good records is very important
. Never leave to memory all the facts as
they occur. You must become journalists and carry that small pad and pen,
jotting down the happenings for future members to read. A well-recorded
history is the Key to a brighter future.
Notes from
the National Historian:
1. The Historian should
develop a system to archive Department communications such as newsletters,
guidebooks, brochures and program information.
2. Encourage Senior and
Junior Historians to participate in the Veterans History Project. (http://www.loc.gov/vets/kit.html).
a. Work with the
Junior Activities Chairman to promote the Veterans History Project through
