NOTE: All awards are for UNIT Recognition with the exception of the
Membership award which is for an individual. All Queen Bee Awards are
located on this page and not under the individual Committee.
AMERICAN LEGION AUXILIARY DEPARTMENT OF NEW YORK
DEPARTMENT PRESIDENTS AWARDS
"QUEEN BEE" AWARDS
2009-2010
AMERICANISM
To the Unit that demonstrates the most innovative program in
support and promotion of Operation Military Kids (OMK). This can include
active military and/or National Guard and Reserve personnel.
Entries should be submitted in typewritten form not to
exceed 1,000 words. Cover sheet must include Unit name, Unit number,
Unit Americanism Chairman's name and phone number. Pictures, newspaper
clippings, etc., can be included.
All entries must be sent to the Department President
directly (see below). Submission deadline: May 10, 2010. Entries will
not be returned.
CHILDREN AND YOUTH
To the Unit that demonstrates the best program in promoting
the Youth Hero/Good Deed award in their communities.
Entries should be submitted in typewritten form not to
exceed 1,000 words. Cover sheet must include Unit name, Unit number,
Unit Children and Youth Chairman's name and phone number. Pictures,
newspaper clippings, etc., can be included.
All entries must be sent to the Department President
directly
(see below).
Submission deadline: May 10, 2010. Entries will
not be returned.
COMMUNITY SERVICE
To the Unit with the best overall program - including
Welcome Home Troops, Food Banks, Habitat for Humanity, Adopt a Highway,
Domestic Violence and Senior Citizen Centers or other Community Service
projects in your Community.
Entries should be submitted in typewritten form not to
exceed 1,000 words. Cover sheet must include Unit name, Unit number,
Unit Community Service Chairman's name and phone number. Pictures, newspaper
clippings, etc., can be included.
All entries must be sent to the Department President
directly (see below).
Submission deadline: May 10, 2010. Entries will
not be returned.
JUNIOR ACTIVITIES
To the Unit with the most innovative project encouraging
Juniors to work with/for our veterans in VA facilities, clinics or nursing
homes.
Entries should be submitted in typewritten form not to
exceed 1,000 words. Cover sheet must include Unit name, Unit
number, Unit Junior Activities Chairman's name and phone number. Pictures,
newspaper clippings, etc., can be included.
All entries must be sent to the Department President
directly
(see below). Submission deadline: May 10, 2010. Entries will
not be returned.
MEMBERSHIP
To the Unit MEMBER who recruits the most new Senior
or Junior members between August 1, 2009 to the close of books (30 days
prior to convention), whose eligibility is obtained through the services of
a Veteran of the Persian Gulf Era (August 2, 1980 to the present), who is
either a member of the American Legion or deceased. Entry form can be found
in the Membership section of the Plan of Action. The Unit President must
verify, sign the entry forms and send them to the Department Office for
verification of new members by the close of books.
PLEASE NOTE: This award is a Department Award and is not
to be confused with the National Membership Awards.
NOTE: This award entry is the ONLY Department
President's Award entry that should be submitted to the Department Office.
NATIONAL SECURITY
To the Unit with the best overall program in addressing the needs of our
deployed troops including assistance to their families at home - such as
child care, household assistance, cooking, etc.
Entries should be submitted in typewritten form not to exceed 1,000
words. Cover sheet must include Unit name, Unit number, Unit National
Security Chairman's name and phone number. Pictures, newspaper
clippings, etc., can be included.
All entries must be sent to the Department President directly
(see below). Submission deadline: May 10, 2010. Entries will not be returned.
VETERANS AFFAIRS
AND REHABILITATION
To the Unit with the best program promoting Field Service or Home Service
projects outside a VA facility.
Entries should be submitted in typewritten form not to exceed 1,000
words. Cover sheet must include Unit name, Unit number, Unit Veteran
Affairs and Rehabilitation Chairman's name and phone number.
Pictures, newspaper clippings, etc., can be included.
All entries must be sent to the Department President directly (see
below). Submission deadline: May 10, 2010. Entries will not be returned.
DEPARTMENT
PRESIDENT'S PROJECT
To the Unit with the largest contribution to the Department Presidents'
Project into Department by May 10th, 2010.
